The Artist

Michael Chatterley has been an avid potter for eleven years.  He attended Rhode Island College and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  Not only has Michael built kilns for RIC and for a RI local pottery, he has built the wood and raku kilns here at the Pottery Wheel.  Michael has also been a part of Raku Rodeo (while in college) in Providence and has been a member of NCECA since 2000.

Michael’s vision of opening a store that would offer hand-thrown pottery and also teaching others his passion through adult pottery classes came true after graduating RIC.  His parents owned Ron’s Bicycle Shop for 30 years and when they decided to retire it was to pass the torch onto their son, Michael.  Through a play on words, the Pottery Wheel received its name by combining the type of media Michael enjoys working in with a piece of what his parents began thirty years ago.

What you get is a genuine all american, mom and pop studio with hand-made pottery for any occasion.
